In the latest development about the sequel to The Conjuring, it has been announced that the release date for the horror flick has been pushed for October 2015 to 2016.

An exclusive Deadline report revealed that James Wan would also be directing the second film, and the date was pushed as Wan just wrapped filming for Fast & Furious 7 and will be tied up with promoting the movie, which will hit theaters in April 2015.

Wan spoke about to IGN in an interview dated October 17. Production of the sequel to the movie is currently held up because of legal issues but Wan confirmed that the groundwork had been laid out.

"I won't talk about the legalities of it, but I will talk about it from a creative standpoint. I can say this: everyone is obviously very excited, not just from a business standpoint, but with the story we've cooked up for the second one," he said. "The script is really strong, and it's actually very exciting. I think the fans are very excited about it -- clearly, with the success of Annabelle. That means people are very hungry and are in love with the world we've created in The Conjuring. So there's lots of great stories to be told there. I think that's what people want to see. I do know that everyone wants that."

The Conjuring was a big success both critically and financially. The movie was inspired by true events and starred Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor.

The movie was released in July 2013.
