The big story for the last X-Men movie was the meshing of both the old and new casts to create a simultaneous adventure for the entire film. But is that set to happen again? Maybe not for the whole movie, but appearances aren't out of the question.

'Pitch Perfect' Star Could Make 'X-Men' Her Next Franchise

While nothing is confirmed, it has been hinted that a few of the roles that have been seen already played within the universe will be re-cast in younger versions much like what happened to Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen with First Class. But could those two actors return again?

Maybe not to the extent of the last movie where they were supporting characters, but seeing these two actors play alongside their younger incarnations in James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender aren't completely out of the realm of possibility. They could be set up in a similar role to Leonard Nimoy as Spock in the current Star Trek movies with the actor playing old Spock to Zachary Quinto's young one.

Is Evan Peters Getting His Own X-Men Movie?

Moving forward, Stewart and McKellen could play a sage-like role to their younger selves and give some small amounts of guidance for future endeavors. But it could also hint at a return of the original cast in what could make X-Men one of the most unique cinematic universes.

While they may run into each other soon due to the years getting closer, the X-Men universe could have the First Class characters doing their stories and include new movies for the original cast to move forward with. This would allow the characters to be progressing simultaneously with different actors playing the role.

It is something no other universe is doing and could be an interesting way to tell the stories of both the young and old versions of these X-Men characters.
