It turns out Meghan Trainor got more than just an invite to the CMA Awards when she paired up with country star Miranda Lambert to perform her hit single All About That Bass Wednesday night.

Blake Shelton & Miranda Lambert Score Big At CMA Awards

It was big news when it was announced that Lambert and Trainor would be teaming up for a duet at the CMA Awards, but what many might not know is that this wasn't Trainor's first trip to the show. Trainor told People on Wednesday that her mom got her into the 2013 show with seats in the way back shortly after Trainor first moved to Nashville.

"We got popcorn. It was bomb," laughed the 20-year-old, "But I told my dad, 'I don't want to be here [again] until I'm invited.'"

Blake Shelton Calls The CMA Awards 'The Miranda Lambert' Show

Fast-forward to this month and Trainor's wish came true. She did attend the CMA Awards, as an invited guest and as one of the show's hit performers. Making it there was an accomplishment all by itself, but for the young singer it was one comment Lambert made which had her really excited.

"She told me she plays the song [All About That Bass] before and after every show with her band," declared a delighted Trainor. "I was bugging out. She was telling me to my face."

Lambert isn't the only one who's a big fan of Trainor's work. The Automatic singer's husband and fellow country artist Blake Shelton is also fond of the popular single.

In September Shelton told People that Trainor's song is definitely on his playlist.

"That's a fun one," he noted before trying to sing a few bars of the tune. "I literally can't relate to it lyrically, but it's just crazy fun."

Shelton and his wife scored big at the CMA Awards Wednesday night. Lambert walked away with four trophies and the couple took Male and Female Vocalist Of The Year for the fifth year in a row.
