Actor Lou Diamond Phillips has invested much of his social media presence over the last few months in promoting Longmire following A&E's cancellation of the popular crime drama.

Netflix Deal Hasn't Slowed Down 'Longmire' Fans

While it was announced last week that producers are in talks with Netflix to bring the series a fourth season, Phillips did not release a statement on Twitter regarding the good news until Monday.

'Longmire' In Talks With Netflix For Season 4

The actor, who plays Henry on the show, thanked fans for their support. To call the cast-fan relationship a "romance with the audience" is no understatement. The "Longmire Posse" has certainly played a prominent role in keeping the spirit of the program alive over the last three months, organizing "Twitter Stampedes" and starting petitions to get the show up and running.

According to Deadline, a deal with Netflix would be beneficial for both parties. Netflix already has the rights to stream the existing Longmire seasons, and the show's older viewership might prefer the subscription service over a network which would deem them "too old" for advertisers, as A&E had when it opted to drop the show.

Nothing is finalized yet, but both Warner Horizon and Netflix are optimistic about working together to revive the popular series.

If Longmire does return on Netflix for a fourth season, production will begin in March with a premiere later in the year.
