Though earlier reports indicated that Matthew McConaughey wouldn't be a part of Magic Mike: XXL, it appears the actor may have changed his mind and now plans to be a part of the stripper franchise once again.

Stephen 'Twitch' Boss Joins The Cast Of 'Magic Mike 2'

According to the New York Post, McConaughey will now be a part of the film franchise once again, and will have a place in the sequel when it hits theaters in July 2015. Instead of having his role of strip club owner Dallas as one of the main members of the ensemble however, he will be reduced to a cameo appearance.

It was confirmed back in September after months of speculation that McConaughey would not be reprising his role because the new film was set t be very different from the first.

Alex Pettyfer Officially Confirms He Won't Be Back For 'Magic Mike 2'

"It's a road trip movie and put it this way, it's different enough that once you see it you'll understand why we made a sequel. No one will be accusing us of making the same movie twice," Director Gregory Jacobs said at the time.

The new movie is indeed expected to be very different from the first, with the male strippers from the first movie-Big D-k Richie (Joe Manganiello), Tarzan (Kevin Nash), Ken (Matt Bomer) and Tito (Adam Rodriguez) meeting up with their former co-star, Magic Mike (Channing Tatum) for a last and final show together at a convention in Myrtle Beach.

Also different from the first movie is the cast. While Manganiello, Nash, Bomer, Rodriguez and Tatum all returned, McConaughey wasn't initially supposed to. Alex Pettyfer, who portrayed Magic Mike's protégé in the first film also did not return, nor did Cody Horn, who was Mike's love interest the first time around.

However, the cast did bulk up with some new and equally as big names for the cast. Joining in as more male strippers were Donald Glover, Michael Strahan and Stephen Boss. The female representation also grew for the film, with Jada Pinkett Smith, Amber Heard, Elizabeth Banks and Andie MacDowell also all signing on in new roles.

Magic Mike: XXL hits theaters July 1, 2015.
