While it was initially a battle between Superman and Batman, could Dawn of Justice turn into more of an origin story for the Caped Crusader, meaning that a standalone reboot may have to wait a little longer?

'Constantine' Actor Talks Joining 'Justice League' & His Character Going To Film

The Hollywood Reporter reported last week that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice would be filming the iconic Wayne murder scene soon, which sparked speculation that more of Batman's past would be looked into during the film than initially anticipated. Is this because Warner Bros. is holding off on a standalone movie?

Right now, neither Batman nor Superman has a solo film in the already proposed DC Comics schedule that runs until 2020. It was noted that they were being considered but right now were put on the back burner in order to introduce new heroes like Wonder Woman, Cyborg and the Suicide Squad.

One Marvel Director Has Some Choice Words For DC & Their Cinematic Universe

While it does make sense for Warner Bros. to wait awhile to bring Batman back since the Christopher Nolan trilogy is still fresh in everyone's minds, does the filming of this origin scene mean that they are trying to knock it out early or they are delaying Batman?

It is a hope that they are just knocking this out and will focus on more stories about Batman outside of his origins in the next film since both series have taken care of the Wayne murders (not to mention it taking place on Fox's Gotham).

The scene is likely there to bring some background to Batman for Superman and wouldn't be that big of a deal. With some scenes taking place in Gotham, maybe the two heroes share a moment when Batman passes by the location.

Both heroes will return though for Justice League: Part 1 in 2017.
