It seems like Disney has some plans for the future of the Frozen brand, but they may be clouded by new content rather than sequels. So is that counting out a second movie forever?

When Is 'Frozen 2' Coming To Theaters?

While fans have been desiring a second Frozen movie, it seems like Disney is more interested in bringing in original content rather than diving into a feature of their biggest hit in a long time. With Frozen Fever, a new short coming out, it seems like this is the route that they will go, but why?

Yes, Frozen was a massive hit and was one of the biggest animated movies of all time, but does that mean it warrants a sequel? Not necessarily.

Is Elsa Getting A Love Interest For 'Frozen 2?'

In terms of story, it seems like the path the characters went on with the first movie was pretty complete. There wasn't much more that could come from this story once the credits started and many left the theater feeling complete with how the character fared by the end.

But in the movie climate we live in today, that doesn't always work. Money drives franchises and it will probably be difficult to completely ignore the massive hit that Frozen was forever. While there may not be a big story, they will most likely find one some day and bring the movie to the big screen again.

But on one hand, it is somewhat rewarding to see Disney not immediately jumping back into the Frozen pool. While some big hits recently follow-up that movie with an instant announcement of a sequel, Disney has instead decided to use this movie as a jumping pad for their original content that is on the way.

While that may not be the long term effect, it is also comforting to know that they aren't exactly going for the money grab just yet with the movie.
