Grammy winning country artist Tim McGraw was inducted into a new hall of fame on Tuesday, though the recognition has nothing to do with his career in music.

The Meanwhile Back At Mama's singer has landed a place in the 2015 Headwear Hall of Fame. Previous inductees include Bruno Mars, Cary Grant, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn, Johnny Depp, Elton John, and Ne-Yo.

McGraw has of course been wearing that black cowboy hat for over a decade. Few fans can imagine him without it. If you ask the singer though, he hasn't been holding onto the hat just for the sake of style.

The Single That Tim McGraw Turned Down

"Of course the cowboy hat is who I am in my music," McGraw told People, "But I've never been real comfortable with the way I look without a hat. I have what I call a 'fivehead'. I don't have a forehead, I have a 'fivehead'. I always felt that I had a really big head."

McGraw admitted that he's learned to accept himself for who he is over the years, and his latest hall of fame recognition may certainly help to boost the singer's confidence. If not, McGraw claims that age has begun to do that for him.

"That's one of those things about getting older," said the singer. "You get more comfortable with yourself."

McGraw will next be seen performing for A Very Grammy Christmas, which airs on CBS Dec. 5 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
