On Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET on NBC the holiday special, Christmas in Rockefeller Center, will stream live. The tree lighting is the epicenter of Christmas in New York City and a symbol of the holiday cheer around the world.

Today anchors Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, Al Roker and Natalie Morales will host the special.

Mariah Carey is set to open the holiday program with a special performance of her smash hit All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Other performers include: Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett, Cyndi Lauper featuring Billy Porter, Seth MacFarlane featuring Sara Bareilles, Idina Menzel, Pentatonix, LeAnn Rimes and Trisha Yearwood.

Prince Royce, Darius Rucker and the Rockettes will join the star-studded holiday special too.

NBC's website stated the tree is "an 85-foot tall Norway Spruce from Hemlock Township, PA. It is approximately 90 years old and weighs approximately 13 tons."

"Tens of thousands will crowd the sidewalks for the event and hundreds of millions will watch it live across the globe," as stated on the Rockefeller Center website. The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will remain lit and can be viewed until 8 p.m. ET on Jan. 7, 2015.
