Daily Mail reported on Thursday that Michael Baxter, a 52-year-old grandfather and prison officer, is hoping his tattoo depicting 204 characters from the popular cartoon series will win him a Guinness World Record.

Baxter has spent nearly $12,000 on getting inked and has been a fan of the series since its debut. He is coinciding his bid with the 25th anniversary on December 17.

Baxter has sat through 130 hours under the needle over the course of the year to break this record. His favorite character was Home, but the tattoo includes all of the main characters as well as several supporting characters.

The tattoo depicts scenes and locations of the fictional Springfield like one of Moe's Tavern and the famous couch scene of the opening credits.

"I wanted to get something which was unique, which nobody else had or would even think of getting," Baxter said. "I'm a huge fan of the show. I love the tattoo, and I know lots of other people, including my grandchildren, do too."

He has 41 tattoos of Homer Simpson on his left arm alone. He said Guinness has accepted his application, but he still has a lot of paperwork to fill out.

The tattoo artist who has been working on his tattoo said she is now known as "the girl who did that Simpson tattoo."

"Michael came to me and said he wanted all The Simpsons characters on his back. I laughed and thought he was joking," the tattoo artist said.

Baxter said he is happy to allow his artist to use him to promote her work. They are heading to an expo in Melbourne this week where he will take pictures with people who request.
