The Christmas special of Call the Midwife is almost here where the cast members dished on what's to come that ought to leave viewers in the holiday spirit.

New Character To Experience 'Tragic Moments' On 'Call The Midwife'

On Saturday, Express posted the details from actresses Miranda Hart (Camilla 'Chummy' Noakes) and Emerald Fennell (Patsy Mount).

"The Christmas special is as delightfully Christmassy as ever," Hart said. "Chummy puts a show together with little girls playing snowflakes- it's very sweet."

While there might be some joyful moments that will warm peoples' hearts, the episode is still going to have its share of heavy moments.

"We've got a lot of Christmas puddings, trees and carols, but as always, things are a little bit complicated," Fennell revealed. "Patsy and Chummy find themselves looking after a home for pregnant, unmarried young women."

Hart added more information on this explaining how it works that will come with wild results.

"Very young, unmarried girls ended up there because they were pregnant," the actress said. "They care for their babies over six weeks, which is enough time to have a real bond with a child, then they have to hand them over."

"Sister Maltby (played by Ruth Sheen) runs the home and is meant to be a very kind, caring woman, but she isn't," Hart continued. "She's appointed by the council but these girls are not being cared for emotionally or physically, so it's quite shocking."

The Christmas special of Call the Midwife is expected to air on Christmas Day at 7:15 p.m. on BBC One.
