In a recent interview Liev Schrieber, who plays the titular role on Ray Donovan, spoke about working on the show and dished a bit about what fans can expect from season 3.

Speaking to Variety, the actor answered questions about his experience playing Ray and also addressed his character's relationship with Mickey (Jon Voight) and how that might evolve or devolve in the next season of Showtime series.

When asked if Ray could actually forgive his father after all he did in the last season, betraying his trust again and getting him into trouble, Schreiber didn't give a definite answer stating that that was in the realm of the show, but he did analyse it personally, by putting himself in such a situation.

Season 3 To Get A New Writer, Will Be Very Different?

"That's really the question of the show, isn't it?" he said. "Personally, I would have forgiven my father long ago. But he's been through a lot more than I have."

This could mean that there is scope for forgiveness and Mickey can patch things up with his son.

Schreiber also spoke about his expectations from the role and how things panned out.

"When I read the character, I thought it was an interesting take on contemporary masculinity," he said. "When you have that many good actors and that many good writers, it takes on a life of its own. After the first scene I knew I was in trouble - collectively we had something compelling, and I was going to have to figure out how to live in L.A."

The season 2 finale of Ray Donovan aired on Sunday, September 27 at 8 pm ET/PT on Showtime.

Season 3 should be out sometime mid-2015.
