Edward Herrmann Dead: 'Gilmore Girls' Actor Dies On New Year's Eve From Brain Cancer [VIDEO]
Edward Herrmann, known for his role as Richard Gilmore on Gilmore Girls, passed away on New Year’s Eve in New York, TMZ reported. The actor was 71.
The actor’s family told the website that he’d been in the hospital’s intensive care unit for almost four weeks battling brain cancer. Since Herrmann’s condition wasn’t improving, “his family decided to take him off the respirator.”
The actor, who got his start in film in the 1970s, also appeared on other popular shows, including Oz, Grey’s Anatomy and Law & Order. He also starred in several films, such as 1994's Richie Rich, 2007’s I Think I Love My Wife and 2013’s Are You Here.
