Over the last year, it's reported that Kate Middleton has attended barely a fifth of the number of events that the Queen attended in 2014. Is she a royal slacker?

On Tuesday, Daily Mail reported that the Duchess of Cambridge has carried out only 76 total public engagements in the last year. That may sound like a lot, but compared to 93-year-old Prince Phillip who went to 200 events, it definitely sounds miniscule.

The Queen herself, who is 88 years old, attended the most with 375. Middleton's total is barely a fifth of the number attended by the Queen who would sometimes attend six or more each day. Out of the 15 royals, Middleton performed the fewest public duties.

To be fair, Middleton has had an intense year. In addition to giving birth to Prince George, she has been ill for most of her second pregnancy. But it is also reported that the Queen's husband, who has suffered regular periods of poor health, shouldered more than 200 engagements himself.

Also according to Daily Mail, Middleton has expressed that she wants to focus her efforts on being a wife and mother for the first few years of her royal life. She does focus on several carefully chosen public obligations for charity, one of them being the East Anglia's Children's Hospice.

Sources told the publication that Middleton has the support of the Queen, who insists on the family to enjoy the early years of their married life before a lifetime of public duty. The Queen is reportedly also supportive of Prince William's choice to have a full-time job outside of royal duties.

"There are more than enough senior members of the Royal Family to undertake the annual number of public duties required," said one of the sources.
