Lena Dunham Engagement Rumors: 'Girls' Star Addresses Wedding Reports 'Slow News Day Dudes?' [VIDEO]
Lena Dunham sparked engagement rumors when she was spotted rocking a diamond on her ring finger; now the Girls star has set the record straight on if wedding bells will be ringing for her soon.
Dunham confirmed with reporters at the Girls season 4 premiere party that she is not engaged. The ring is actually a friendship ring she and her costar Jenni Konner rock together.
Dunham said, "Yeah we're engaged to continue to work together for the rest of my life."
Konner also cleared the air and said, "We have friendship rings. They're a stack of three. We both wear them on that finger for some reason - that's the finger they fit on - and those are our friendship rings."
She went on to share her reaction to reports of the ring being mistaken for a sign she would be getting married soon.
"I was like, 'Yeah, to me!'" Konner laughed.
Still, Dunham said that she while she has also received a special ring from her longtime boyfriend Jack Antonoff. Interestingly enough, she wears that the ring finger of her right hand.
"Clearly nobody gives a s--- about- it's like a diamond! Everybody was like, 'Let's ignore that diamond and focus on this stack of three rings.' I definitely had a feeling, like, 'Slow news day dudes?'"
The reports even got to Antonoff's family, who Dunham said ended calling him and asking about their engagement plans.
"I also just want to say, if we're going to get engaged, we would be more creative than to do it on New Year's Eve. We don't want to be basic."
