Pulled from Thomas Harris' Red Dragon novel, Dolarhyde has a habit of biting his victims, and act which earned him the name "The Tooth Fairy." Previously portrayed by Tom Noonan in Manhunter and Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon, Dolarhyde will receive an extended storyline in Bryan Fuller's NBC series.
"That's what [series creator] Bryan [Fuller] does best: He finds characters that might not be that explicit in the books or the films and then he enlarges that," explained actor Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal), according to Yahoo! TV. "He's already done that, to a degree with Mason Verger and his sister. We saw the aftermath in the film, but now we've already seen who is Mason and we saw his transition, which I find super interesting. I'm sure he's going to do that with other characters."
