FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show has killed off numerous main characters over the last few weeks, but will this continue into the season finale?

Will 'American Horror Story: Freak Show' Do Better At The Emmys Than Golden Globes?

SPOILERS for latest episode of American Horror Story: Freak Show ahead:

With only one episode to go of Freak Show, it remains to be seen if the show's remaining characters will be redeemed and finally get their happiness or if they will be brutally murdered. Such has been the case for all of the significant characters killed off thus far, including Ethel (Kathy Bates), Gloria (Frances Conroy), Dell (Michael Chiklis), Twisty the Clown (John Carroll Lynch), Ma Petite (Jyoti Amge) and now Maggie (Emma Roberts). Even minor characters like Meep (Ben Woolf), Dora (Patti LaBelle) and Regina (Gabourey Sidibe) have met their untimely end.

'American Horror Story' Star Sarah Paulson Reveals Why It Was 'Jarring' Seeing Herself As Bette & Dot

This season of American Horror Story seems to have more death than ever before, so it can only be assumed that there is still more to come in the finale next week. It remains to be seen who will be knocking on death's door, though.

We know that Elsa (Jessica Lange) makes it out alive based on Pepper (Naomi Grossman) seeing her on the cover of Life magazine in a flash forward. As for the fates of everyone else, it's still up in the air. Bette and Dot (Sarah Paulson) will probably make it, considering Paulson's characters always seem to have a happy ending year to year, though that could change.

Jimmy (Evan Peters) has had a harrowing season, constantly losing everyone he loves in addition to the hands that made him special. Will he be put out of his misery or will he finally receive some happiness?

Meanwhile, Desiree (Angela Bassett) has taken it upon herself to lead her fellow freaks in seeking vengeance, though that could definitely get her in trouble if she goes up against the wrong person.

That wrong person could be Dandy (Finn Wittrock), who is now in control of the freak show. Dandy has more or less gotten his way all season long and he may finally see vengeance rained down upon him.

Any manner of things could happen in the American Horror Story: Freak Show finale but with the episode title being Curtain Call, one can only imagine what Ryan Murphy and company have in store.

The American Horror Story: Freak Show finale airs Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
