Rabe made a brief appearance as her Asylum character Sister Mary Eunice on American Horror Story: Freak Show this year, to the delight of many. While she is set to star in ABC's The Whispers next, many are clamoring for her to return to American Horror Story in a major role.

However, the actress refused to admit whether or not she would be returning for season 5.

"I love being on American Horror Story and ... I can't answer that question," Rabe said with a laugh, via Zap2It.

She observed that she must have complete trust in American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy in order to play a new role year after year.

"Each year is different. But I trust Ryan completely," Rabe said. "Every woman that I've played on that show has been so incredibly different from the next. With that show in particular, you really have to put your trust into Ryan, but it's an easy thing to do."

It remains to be seen what Murphy and company have planned for season 5, but if The Whispers takes off on ABC, Rabe might not be able to be involved in the horror anthology series.

American Horror Story: Freak Show concludes on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
