Longmire might have a shot at the Emmys this year as Netflix takes over the former A&E series.

'Longmire' Writers Show Off A Sensitive Side

For three seasons Longmire remained pretty under the radar, beloved by fans but not a constant fixture at the award shows. This might change however at Netflix, which has helmed hits like Orange Is The New Black and House Of Cards, develops and promotes the show's revival for a fourth season.

According to Business Insider on Jul. 10 Netflix scored a total of 31 nominations at the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards in 2014. Orange is The New Black counted for 12 of those nominations, including Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series. House of Cards scored 13 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series and an Outstanding Actor for star Kevin Spacey.

Why Good Writing Is So Important To 'Longmire'

In 2013 Netflix had 14 nominations, with three wins, which means that the nominations nearly doubled in just one year's time. With that kind of track record, and the popularity of the series, it's possible Longmire finally gets the attention so many fans have been waiting for.

A&E shocked viewers in 2014 when it elected to cancel the show after its third season. It had been the network's highest-rated scripted series at the time. For months Longmire lingered in limbo before Netflix came in and saved the program in December.

The writers are already busy penning new episodes and production is scheduled to begin in March.

Longmire will likely return for a fourth season on Netflix during the later half of 2015.
