The show has officially been cancelled by FOX after a weak debut, but the cast of Red Band Society still appears to have fond memories of the experience they had on the freshman series.

Astro, who portrayed the Cystic Fibrosis afflicted Dash on the medical drama, recently spoke to NKD magazine following the debut of his hip-hop EP Computer Era-but also touched upon the show that saw him fighting an illness but never letting it control his character.

During his interview, Astro shared what made him want to become involved in the show, repeating the same things some of his other cast members have said about the scripts pulling them in.

"Some of the scripts [sent to me] are just great, to the point where it's like, 'I wanna be a part of it. I have to be a part of it.' Red Band was one of those scripts. It was amazing, it was playful," he said. "It was selling the story of the teenager from the teenager's perspective. It wasn't, like, old man from the middle of nowhere trying to tell our story like a lot of TV."

He also opened up more about his character, adding that Dash was meant to represent some of the real kids he met who were suffering from the disease.

"[Dash is] one of the wildest kids in the hospital, in the sense that he enjoys every moment of his life. I'm very ambitious and I like to have fun all the time, but I think he [Dash] also tells the tale of a kid with cystic fibrosis," he said. "I met some kids with cystic fibrosis and...as much as they were going through, they weren't sad at all. They were enjoying every moment of their lives, because they knew tomorrow wasn't promised. I think he [Dash] lives it up for that reason because he knows he could die at any given moment."

The final three episodes of Red Band Society are scheduled to begin airing Jan. 31 at 9 p.m. The final two episodes will be Feb. 7 at 8 p.m.
