By now you've seen Missy Elliott steal the show at Katy Perry's soaring Sunday Super Bowl Halftime Show gig. When the "Firework" star announced "C'mon Missy, do your thang!," the magic began as Elliott launched through a medley of three of her biggest hits "Get Ur Freak On," "Work It," and "Lose Control." Busta Rhymes, Justin Timberlake, Kerry Washington, and Demi Lovato were among some of the thousands of congrats on Twitter for the 43-year-old, Grammy-award winning hip-hop visionary who offered her own emotional, tear-inducing response: "I cried because I've been thru so much but I'm still here & thru the grace of God & u the fans believing in me I love y'all..."

Missy's praise-worthy performance has even sparked a revival of the artist's catalogue as streams of her music soared by an astounding 676 percent. But of course, this is not the first noteworthy television showing from the singer-rapper-songwriter-producer and game-changing video maverick. EnStars presents, the top five Missy Elliott TV performances. Put your dancing shoes on.

5. BET Hip Hop Awards (2012)

The tragic 2012 death of legendary music executive Chris Lighty brought together the co-founder of Violator management's most prominent, game-changing artists at the 2012 BET Hip Hop Awards. Indeed, it was quite a sight witnessing everyone from LL Cool J, A Tribe Called Quest and Busta Rhymes to Funk Master Flex, Fat Joe and 50 Cent give it up to the influential power broker. But it was the bombastic appearance of Missy Elliott at the 9:14 mark that got the crowd into a proverbial frenzy as they rocked to "Get Ur Freak On". Short, but indelibly sweet.

4. KCON: Live At M! Countdown-What's up LA (2013)

Missy flexed her international swag at 2013's annual Korean Pop showcase KCON at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports. Joining K-Pop favorite G-Dragon on a bouncing track, Ms. Elliott blessed the screaming revelers with some rewind-worthy tongue-twisting rhymes ("Party crash, tragic, bust it like a prophylactic/Tactics, man this ain't no practice. Copycats, you swagger jacking...") once again proving that stylistically she is arguably hip-hop's most slept on MC.

3. MTV VMA Awards feat. Ludacris, Nelly Furtado, and Trina (2002)

This is Missy Elliott at the peak of her artistic and commercial powers. A heavy nod to her wonderfully weird, groundbreaking clip for "Get Ur Freak On" (yet another appearance by the Punjabi fueled top 10 Billboard favorite), Missy descended onstage holding on to a mammoth crystal chandelier. Show off. From there, she raced through a number of her hits including the Nelly Furtado-aided "Get Ur Freak On" remix and the raunchy "One Minute Man," backed by a roaring Ludacris, bootylicious Trina, and all-world producer Timbaland. Peep the giant Missy head complete with an audacious red tongue that would impress Kiss' Gene Simmons.

2. BET Awards (2005)

It begins with the futuristic landing of you know who and from there a sweat-inducing party is ignited by the frenetic, 100 beats per minute jam "Lose Control." Missy, clad in a Michael Jackson adorned sweat suit, gets some help from the blaring and shirtless (!!!) Fat Man Scoop--the former New York Hot 97 radio DJ's voice should be made into an alarm clock--and the new age dancing queen herself Ciara. The off-the-reservation choreography alone is worth a viewing.

1. American Music Awards (2003)

What makes this particular Missy Elliott performance tops? Simple. The infectious throwdown is an unpretentious love letter to the power of hip-hop. "Work It" stands as Missy's biggest single to date, a song that topped the Billboard Hot 100 for an impressive 10 weeks (only Eminem's omnipresent anthem "Lose Yourself" stood in the way). But while Missy only got a few minutes to blaze through her brilliant ode to '80s old school rap during the Super Bowl Halftime show, on the American Music Awards the full strength of the number is thoroughly realized.

A radio boombox, graffiti, an army of relentless B-Boys and B-Girls, and a Prince impersonator all join in on the fun as Missy plays the role of rousing ring leader. Dressed in an all red Adidas warm-up suit, the fabulous one gives her legion of breakdancers room to operate. Of course there is nothing cooler (or cuter) than witnessing a pubescent kid spin on their head. But this is no mere nostalgia trip. Missy won by connecting the dots of hip-hop's family tree. Especially poignant is her shout-out to Run-D.M.C.'s late great DJ Jam Master Jay. Standing ovation, indeed.
