The "50 Shades of Grey" movie adaptation of the racy novel should have several prospects for the lead roles of Christian Grey. However, Hollywood A-lister Ryan Gosling is one of the few that is being highly coveted by fans for obvious reasons. But the question remains whether or not the star actor would even take the role if the racy movie stayed true to the book.

When Gosling was recently asked by Extra whether or not he was considering the role, the star gave the following response:

"I don't ... what is this book that everyone is talking about? It seems very popular."

Although his previous response is a less than ideal one for fans of the actor, many speculate that he could just be staying mum, which would mean that producers had already approached him regarding a potential Christian Grey role.

According to Gather, it had recently been revealed by co-star Christina Hendricks that their new film "How to Catch a Monster" actually features a fetish club in it. Hence, Gosling, should be somewhat aware of the BDSM craze that was started by "Fifty Shades of Grey." Gosling can also play the sexual character really well as he had previously showed off his raunchy acting chops in the 2010 flick "Blue Valentine."

Internet rumors have also brought some other actors into the mix as some Christian Steele favorites, which include the likes of White Collar's Matt Bomer, Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder, True Blood's Alexander Skarsgard and Man of Steel's Henry Cavill.

However, up until this point, E.L. James and the producers attached to the future film version of the racy read have remained tight-lipped on the casting process. However, only time will tell who ends up with the highly-anticipated role of Christian Grey and also who will play his love interest, Anastasia Steele.
