LL Cool J rocked the stage as the MC for the 2015 Grammy Awards last night (Feb. 8). But this wasn't the only time he hosted a special awards show. In fact, looking at previous awards he's hosted, it's safe to say the iconic musician is a pro.

Just days before hosting Sunday night's show, he made it clear he planned to simply be himself.

"I try not to overthink it because I don't want to take myself too seriously. I think that's a mistake that people often make. I'm happy that they invited me back. When it comes to hosting, I'm not delusional," he confessed at a Pre-Grammy dinner with Michael Strahan. "I don't pretend to be Billy Crystal or Ellen DeGeneres or Whoopi Goldberg. I'm just being LL Cool J, keeping it simple, and doing my thing."

Well it's definitely working for him, considering this was his fourth time MCing what's considered the biggest night in music. On top of that he's hosted at least six other Grammy events such as Christmas specials and a tribute for the Beatles. And it most likely won't be the last.

He added that he also took on the role as co-producer for lower profile shows, which lead him to being able to get tapped to major ones like the Grammys.

"Ken Ehrlich [the producer of the show] and I have developed a relationship and a certain amount of trust. I co-produced on some of those other shows. He trusted my opinion and he let me contribute to the process. Eventually I went from hosting the smaller shows to being able to host the biggest show."
