Laverne Cox has reportedly been cast in a new CBS pilot, so does this mean she will no longer be part of Netflix's Orange Is the New Black?

Cox has been cast in a new drama pilot for CBS called Doubt, a legal procedural that comes from husband and wife team Tony Phelan and Joan Rater, with such credits as Madam Secretary and Grey's Anatomy.

The series will center on a defense lawyer who "shockingly gets romantically involved with one of her clients - who may or may not be guilty of a brutal crime," according to TVLine.

Cox's role in the show seems to be that of series regular status, playing a transgender attorney who is "competitive as she is compassionate. She's fierce, funny and the fact that she's experienced injustice first hand makes her fight all the harder for her clients," per Entertainment Weekly.

Doubt has not been picked up as a series, and it is not known when it would air assuming it is picked up.

This calls into question Cox's role in Orange Is the New Black, in which she plays transgender prisoner Sophia Burset. This was a breakout role for the actress, becoming the first openly transgender person to be nominated for an acting award at the Emmys last year.

While she took more of a backseat in the second season, she is still one of the most prominent members of the cast so her absence would definitely be missed.

Orange Is the New Black returns for season 3 in mid-2015 on Netflix, though the streaming network has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
