Based on recent photos from the set of HBO's True Detective, Vince Vaughn's storyline might have him working alone all season long.

'True Detective' Still Waiting For Three Directors In 2015

Vaughn will be playing career criminal Frank Semyon when the crime drama returns for its second season this year. The actor has been seen on set a number of times over the last few weeks, but rarely ever in the company of costar Vince Vaughn (compromised Detective Ray Velcoro) and Rachel McAdams (Detective Ani Bezzerides).

On Tuesday Coming Soon released leaked photos of Vaughn and McAdams rehearsing on set in Los Angeles with firearms for what looked to be a dramatic chase. They were also joined by Taylor Kitsch, who is set to play Officer Paul Woodrugh on the series.

Colin Farrell Unlikely To Surprise On 'True Detective'

Vaughn was notably absent from the set, though he has been seen on a number of other occasions filming around the city. He was spotted by the Daily Mail filming outside on Jan. 31. The Daily Mail had previously obtained photos of Vaughn on set without his costars back in December.

Providing Vaughn's character with his own narrative would give True Detective a broader scope, having focused narrowly on Detectives Rust Cohle (Matthew McConaughey) and Marty Hart (Woody Harrelson) during the show's first season.

This year, this series will follow the murder of a corrupt city manager in the state of California. Creator Nic Pizzolatto has penned all the episodes, with Fast and Furious alum Justin Lin set to direct the premiere.

True Detective will return on HBO for a second season mid-2015.
