"He's growing up and moving on. He will be out living a real life," she added.

McQueen's character ended up leaving Mystic Falls, but considering he is still alive there is a chance he will return.

On Friday, the Twitter for the show revealed that McQueen "has a special message for all of you."

"Hey guys, thanks for all the support you've given me over six years of TVD," McQueen said in the video message, which is below.

He praised the fans calling them "the best" and said his time on The CW show "has been an amazing ride."

"I'm going to say goodbye for now," he said, adding, "But I'm sure we'll see each other soon," which leads fans to believe he will be back on the show in the future even if he is not a series regular anymore.
