In last Thursday's episode of The Vampire Diaries viewers said goodbye to Sheriff Liz Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre), which of course meant Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) also had to say goodbye to her.

Accola's character decided after the funeral she would switch off her humanity. Caroline even snapped Elena Gilbert's (Nina Dobrev) neck at the end of the episode since Elena tried to reason that turning off her humanity was not the right solution.

Executive producer Julie Plec revealed to The Hollywood Reporter Thursday that Caroline's journey with no humanity will be interesting.

"I think fans can expect a surprisingly delightful and on the verge of crazy, Caroline," Plec shared.

"She really does believe when she said, 'My experience will be different. I won't be basket cases like the rest of you, I'll handle myself well.' So she sets out very clearly to do that. And the question is, how long will she be able to keep it together, and who might play a part in helping to unravel her," Plec added.

During the last episode Stefan (Paul Wesley) tried to pinpoint his feelings for Caroline and when he finally figured out what to say to her he was too late since he got to her house after she snapped Elena's neck.

Plec said Stefan will "hold himself very responsible."

"Whether his answer would have changed her mind or not remains to be seen," Plec stated.
