The singer and her husband, Gerard Pique, are part of UNICEF to throw a "World Baby Shower" that can benefit children who don't have the proper finances the way they should. In Shakira's blog post on Monday, she wrote about how becoming a mom, herself, made hr realize that other people out there don't have the same luxuries that she does.

"As the time of my son's birth grew closer, I was full of anticipation," the blond beauty wrote. "Nonetheless, with every gift that was given to my son through the generosity of family or friends, I thought of mothers who couldn't count on even the most basic resources for their children in those first crucial stages of life, who often don't have access to vaccines, clean water, or even a proper birthing environment."

As Shakira and her husband continued to process this, the more they wanted to do what they could to help out.

"UNICEF helped us make that wish a reality by teaming up with us to throw a World Baby Shower that asked for gifts to be sent to places where they are not only appreciated, but where they can actually save lives," the singer wrote. "The positive response to the shower was overwhelming and emotional. I like to think that my son will feel proud one day that the celebration of his birth impacted so many others."
