New Evidence Emerges In The Aaron Hernandez Murder Trail

On Wednesday, a witness testified that a shell casing was found in a rental car that was rented by Hernandez and that same type of casing was also found at the scene of crime.

According to ESPN on Wednesday, a state police sergeant testified that the same shells that were found were both fired from the same weapon.

Aaron Hernandez's Murder Trial Continues To Unfold

The site reported that five shell casings were found in the same vicinity where Odin Lloyd was shot to death on June 17, 2013. Lloyd's body was discovered in an industrial park not too far from Hernandez's home in North Attleborough.

An employee at the rental car business testified that she found a shell casing under the driver's seat of the rented Nissan Altima, which was returned on the same day the killing occured.

Sgt. Stephen Walsh testified that all six of the shell casings were fired from the same .45-caliber handgun. Walsh told the court that the casings were consistent with having been fired from a Glock.

The murder weapon has yet to be found, and it is believed that Hernandez's fiancé, Shayanna Jenkins, disposed of the weapon. Surveillance footage shows Jenkins taking out a huge black bag after she received what prosecutors believe to be a coded text message from Hernandez.

Jenkins told the court that she doesn't remember where she disposed the big bag, but prosecutors are hoping to use her testimony to prove that Hernandez was involved in the murder of his friend Lloyd.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges, and he currently remains in jail without bail.
