Some of the spotlight shifted from Tim McGraw to his wife Faith Hill on the red carpet last week when the pair attended the 87th Annual Academy Awards.

While plenty of viewers were focused on McGraw's slim new look and hatless head, others turned to Hill's stunning dress and new pixie 'do. Some of those looking at the singer's hairstyle, however, noticed a scar along the edge of her neck.

So did Hill snag the scar in a childhood injury? Or was she involved in a recent mishap? The answer is neither.

On Feb. 28 People confirmed that Hill underwent surgery back in January to correct a problem which had been causing pain in a herniated disk. Hill had previously gone through surgery for the problem back in 2011, though it seems another go at it was required. The singer is currently doing well with her physical therapy and is doing well overall.

McGraw, always at the ready to sing his wife's praises both publicly and privately, couldn't say enough about Hill as they stood together on the red carpet on Oscar night. "She looks pretty hot, huh," he declared. "I married up."

Married for over two decades, the Meanwhile Back At Mama's singers have three daughters together. However, it looks like Hill will stay behind this summer to relax and watch the girls as McGraw embarks on her solo tour.
