The Voice Season 8 battle rounds are nearing closer and The Voice's YouTube channel uploaded a short video of Pharrell Williams working alongside his team's advisor Lionel Richie.

Richie is a newcomer to Team Pharrell, having previously appeared on Team Christina during Season 2, but the legendary musician is thrilled to be working with Williams this time around.

At the start of the video, which is below, Williams seems to be totally awestruck over getting to work with Richie.

"This is time with Mr. Richie right here," Williams said, adding, "It's magical!"

Richie commends Williams for understanding "the songwriting, the sensitivity, the feel".

Richie and Williams first met in 2014 at the BET Awards and Richie told the second-time coach of The Voice "it was a pleasure."

Williams discussed growing up listening to Richie's music.

"Ya know, to see this guy continue to reinvent himself over and over and over again across more genres than I think any other artist," Williams shared, while also mentioning he "fanned-out."

Williams praised Richie for doing much more than helping him on The Voice.

He said having Richie advise his team has been "like a master class."

In the video, it's noted that the two have been in the studio together with DJ Reflex working on an upcoming project!

Little snippets from their advising sessions with Williams' team are shown too.
