The film based off her novel Gone Girl was a critical success, and now Gillian Flynn's Dark Places may be set to get the same treatment.

In a new trailer, the movie based on Flynn's second novel shows a dark and twisted movie that is not only a potential great companion piece with Gone Girl, but is also possibly even darker and more disturbing than that story ever was.

Dark Places follows the story of Libby (portrayed by Charlize Theron), a woman who witnessed the brutal murder of her family as a young girl. When questioned by the police as a child, Libby claims her brother was responsible for the horrific crime, but now, years later, she may be beginning to stumble across the strange truth which may just prove he is actually innocent.

With the help of a group called the "Kill Club"-a group of amateur sleuths and crime enthusiasts-Libby finds herself on a dangerous hunt for her family's real killer.

The film also stars Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max, X-Men: Apocalypse), Chloe Grace Moretz (The Equalizer, If I Stay), Corey Stoll (House of Cards, The Strain), Tye Sheridan (The Tree of Life), and Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Lost River) as well.

However, those hoping to watch the film in the U.S. may have an indefinite wait. The trailer is French and while the film is scheduled to open across Europe in April of this year, not release date has yet been announced for the U.S.-meaning it could be a while before fans will get more of their Gillian Flynn thrill.
