Find Out Why Emotions Will 'Vary' For 'Outlander' This Season

As both loving husband Frank and his ruthless cutthroat of an ancestor, Jack, Menzies has had the unusual task of bringing to life two men centuries apart.

Menzies stopped to discuss the Frank-Jack dynamic with Parade on Monday, teasing out exactly where the Starz drama will be headed this spring.

Things Are Heating Up Between Claire & Jamie On 'Outlander'

According to Menzies, the second half of the season will utilize an "equally big canvas" as the first with "lots to look forward to."

"My main involvement is Jack's stuff with Jamie…" explained the actor, "It's dark. It will certainly be uncomfortable viewing."

As the only one on set playing two characters, Menzies refused to say.

"They say variety is the spice of life," he noted. "I find that true playing these two. One of the things that we've gotten more and more confident with is having moments of similarity and moments of contrast and playing that line."

Menzies seems to enjoy the challenge of playing the both of them, claiming there isn't anyone else on television he'd prefer to play. "Don’t tell any of the other actors," he teased, "But I've already got the best few characters. Keep that under your hat."

Outlander will return on Starz for the remainder of its first season Saturday, April 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
