Vince Vaughn has a new movie out this month, which of course has given people an excuse to talk about True Detective.

Fans Weigh In On Casting For 'True Detective' Season 3

Vaughn discussed his upcoming role on the HBO crime drama during an interview with Today about his new film, Unfinished Business, on March 5.

Known primarily for comedic work in films such as Old School and Wedding Crashers, Vaughn insisted that there isn't much difference between the effort he puts in for comedy and that which he puts in for drama.

Why 'True Detective' Might Become A Book

"It's allowing me to sort of bring a different range and a different set of tools to the table," said the actor of his involvement with True Detective. "But as far as the work that goes in, it's always the same. Take my word. Very seriously, there's always a big process so that when you go there, it looks like you're not acting."

Vaughn will play career criminal Frank Semyon on the series this year and couldn't be more excited about the character creator Nic Pizzolatto has written.

"For me, it's a chance to go and play a very unique character, something that's dramatic," explained the actor. "And be part of something that I think is really exceptional."

Starring alongside Vaughn this season will be his Wedding Crashers costar Rachel McAdams (Detective Ani Bezzerides), as well as Colin Farrell (Detective Ray Velcoro) and Taylor Kitsch (Officer Paul Woodrugh).

True Detective will return on HBO for a second season mid-2015.
