In the interview, Stern asked the singer about her feelings toward David Letterman since in interviews she did with the late night TV host she sometimes came off abrasive.

"No, that's how I flirt with people," Madonna shared about her behavior toward Letterman in those various interviews.

Stern commented that her behavior toward Letterman "seemed contentious and uncomfortable."

That prompted the Living for Love singer to explain herself, which led to the big romance reveal.

"Well one time I was mad at him, but - when I said the F-word a lot," she said in regard to her 1994 appearance.

"But the rest of the time was good," she added.

"I was in a weird mood that day," she then added before dropping the bombshell of her relationship with Shakur.

"I was dating Tupac Shakur at the time and the thing is he got me all riled up about life in general so when I went on this show I was feeling very gangsta," she said of her behavior toward Letterman.

Stern appeared to be surprised about their romance, but Madonna said she thought it was public knowledge. An unauthorized 2007 biography called Madonna: Like an Icon claimed the two briefly dated about a year before Shakur's death.

The entertainer has never really addressed her relationship with the rapper though before publicly.
