The Vampire Diaries left off during its last episode with Stefan (Paul Wesley) turning off his humanity and now fans get to see the result of that in the new episode airing this Thursday.

Ian Somerhalder Discusses His Directorial Debut On 'The Vampire Diaries'

In The Downward Spiral, Caroline Forbes (Candice Accola) did some unthinkable things such as attempting to murder Stefan's relative Sarah (Tristin Mays), but Stefan did the noble thing by turning off his humanity to keep Caroline from doing any other damage.

Now with no humanity Stefan can pretty much go on a killing spree, which he has done in the past when he turned his humanity off.

Who Is Nina Dobrev's Favorite Costar On 'The Vampire Diaries'?

Watch the trailer below for this Thursday's episode A Bird in a Gilded Cage.

In the trailer, Stefan's brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) freaks out over Stefan's lack of humanity.

"Stefan without his humanity is one artery away from Stefan the Ripper," Damon tells Elena (Nina Dobrev).

Also in the trailer, things between Damon and Stefan get physical since Damon says to Stefan, "Not a good time for a humanity flip, brother."

Stefan grabs him wrist in the trailer and bends it as he demands, "Stay out of my way today."

Despite Stefan being without any humanity it appears as though he's on a mission to get Caroline to turn her humanity back on.

He doesn't go about it as he would typically given his humanity is off too so things get a bit violent between him and Caroline.

"I'm not going to let you ruin my life," Caroline tells him as he hovers above her.

"Well then I'll just end it," he bites back.
