There's a reason fans are drawn to Jamie and Claire on Starz's Outlander.

Fans Will See Another Side Of Jamie On 'Outlander' This Season

So much of the time-traveling historical drama hinges on the relationship between these two characters. Fortunately, Heughan (Jamie) and Balfe (Claire) know the secret to their success: chemistry.

The pair were asked to rate their pairing by People's Choice on Wednesday, and each star was able to provide a wholly definitive answer.

Without hesitation Balfe gave them an A+ as an onscreen couple.

Heughan, on the other hand, used a very different method to rate their success. He decided to go old-school, sticking to the source material in giving his playful answer. "I give it [an] H, for Highlander," declared the actor, who has charmed fans across the world with his sweet-natured Jamie.

So what's the secret to their relationship? How do they make it look so effortless onscreen?

"We're just really good friends," insisted Balfe after joking that it's all an act and that they "really don't like each other" in real life.

Producers knew from their very first screen test together that Heughan and Balfe were "the ones" to lead the series to success. They clicked right from the beginning and have carved out a path for Starz to finally compete with HBO's Game of Thrones.

Outlander will return on Starz for the remainder of its first season on Saturday, April 4 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
