Mad Men returns for its finale episodes next month and at last the cast is ready to say goodbye.

Find Out Who Almost Played Don Draper On 'Mad Men' Instead Of Jon Hamm

In looking back at AMC's ad agency drama's decade of revolutionizing television, many of the show's stars are pleased with where their characters have ended up.

For Elisabeth Moss, Peggy Olson has spent the whole of the series "becoming a person" of her very own.

"She tries on all of these different characters and all these different personas," noted Moss during an interview with Rolling Stone on March 13. "Should she be a man? Should she be a woman? Should she be a sexless entity?"

After years of asking the audience these very questions, Moss explained that show finally allowed Peggy to become "who she is" at the end of the series.

Similarly, Christina Hendricks has found the journey of Joan Harris to be equally compelling. After years of searching for the right husband and the right life, she learns that everything she's always wanted "wasn't all it was cut out to be."

"It's so satisfying to see that woman bump up against the ceiling and bump up aghainst the ceiling until, finally, she breaks through," noted costar Jon Hamm, who plays Don Draper on the program.

Despite the cast's support as Mad Men draws to an end, creator Matthew Weiner is somewhat concerned about the critical response.

"The road has been paved for a mixed review," he insisted, "No matter what."

Mad Men will return on AMC with the remainder of its seventh and final season on Sunday, April 5.
