The first season of Bloodline debuted this week as Netflix's new big family saga.

The seaside gothic thriller follows the adult children of Florida hotel owners Robert and Sally Raburn (Sam Shephard and Sissy Spacek). Friday Night Lights star Kyle Chandler helms the series as their son and sheriff, John.

"Please don't judge us," warned John in a voiceover during the shocking premiere. "We're not bad people, but we did a bad thing."

In addition to John, Robert and Sally have three other children. There is Kevin (Norbert Leo Butz), Meg (Linda Cardellini), and the family screw-up, Danny (Ben Mendelsohn).

Things seem to be running smoothly, if not perfectly, before Danny returns to their hometown and stirs up old sentiments and past drama. From the very beginning it's obvious there's a challenging history between the siblings, and the longer Danny sticks around the more trouble that arises.

Meg is the one who tries to get them to see eye-to-eye, which is something Cardellini can identify with.

"I definitely grew up wanting to make my family happy and proud," noted the actress during an interview with Flare on Thursday. "But, unlike Meg, I am fortunate to not have so much terrible drama."

Right from the beginning Bloodline presents an explosive premiere (literally).

"It gets pretty dark," insisted Cardellini.

All 13 episodes of Bloodline's first season are now available on Netflix.
