Justified's final season may be getting closer to its end, but the action and drama is still going strong.

Walton Goggins Teases Boyd's Future On 'Justified'

Tuesday night the latest episode called Trust aired, which focused on Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) putting his plan in action to steal $10 million from Avery Markham (Sam Elliott) since he failed to do so in the previous episode called Burned.

In Trust, Ava Crowder (Joelle Carter) does the unthinkable and betrays Boyd as well as Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant).

Ava wound up shooting Boyd in the shoulder in the episode and making off with the stolen money and ultimately left Raylan and Boyd very confused by her actions since they each thought she was working with them.

Carter spoke to TV Guide about her character's decision to betray both men.

On Tuesday night, the site revealed that Carter dished that Ava is very desperate and felt as though "In the moment, this is the only way out. It was sad."

"She's torn apart. As far as I'm concerned, pulling that trigger and walking away was excruciatingly hard, but there was no other choice," Carter dished about Ava shooting Boyd.

"But shooting Boyd, I think it broke her heart to have to do it. But I don't think there was a doubt that it was what she needed to do. I don't feel like she wanted or intended to kill him in any way. She just wanted to slow him down and get away. It was the action that needed to happen, and she's going with it. It's like breaking up with someone. It's what you have to do, but it doesn't feel really great sometimes," she explained of Ava's decision.

Carter shared that Ava's "just doing what's best for her own survival" since Boyd and Raylan are "so obsessed with one-upping each other and getting what they need."

Justified is airing now on FX at 10 p.m. ET on Tuesdays.
