Jurors in the murder case against former NFL star Aaron Hernandez are deliberating and local attorneys believe that the defendant will be acquitted of the murder charges.

Jurors Could Reach Verdict In Aaron Hernandez Murder Case

During the trial the prosecution team called 132 witnesses to the stand to prove that Hernandez is guilty of killing his friend Odin Lloyd, however, despite the testimonies, some believe that there isn't enough evidence for a conviction.

According to the Boston Herald, Geoffrey Nathan, a Boston criminal defense attorney, says that there have been a number of testimonies that worked in favor of the defense.

"They might have him guilty, but they don't have him beyond a reasonable doubt," Nathan said. "I think they're going to have to give him a pass on this."

Nathan said that the testimony of analyst Jennifer Smith alluded to the idea that the reason Hernandez's DNA was found on a shell casing matching those at the crime scene could be because it was transferred from a piece of chewing gum.

"They only have circumstantial evidence, and he's got some of the best defense attorneys in the country," Nathan added, saying, "It's going to be a struggle to convict this guy."

Jeffrey Denner, another defense attorney, believes that arguments from both sides will result in a toss up and the default is often an acquittal.

"My thoughts are, being a distant observer, is that it's very likely jurors may think he did this, and wonder why his fingerprints are all over the place, but just don't have evidence beyond a reasonable doubt," Denner said. "Simply believing someone is guilty is not enough."

Based on their evidence, the prosecutors have concluded that Hernandez and his two friends picked Lloyd up at his home in Boston, drove him to the industrial park and shot him to death.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to the charges and he currently remains in the jail without bail.
