Christina Ricci is currently playing one of the darkest characters of all time and it sounds like she's only going to get worse.

On Sunday, Zap 2 It posted an interview with Ricci who plays the title role in The Lizzie Borden Chronicles. In the series, the actress portrays the historical woman who was acquitted after murdering her parents with an ax. Ricci dished on her character's relationship with her sister Emma and how Lizzie doesn't really possess the typical kind of love.

"I think it's a very need-based relationship," the actress said. "Lizzie sort of views her as property, and Emma's always taken care of her but it's not, at least from Lizzie's point of view, a loving relationship. She's not really capable of love in a normal way."

Ricci then pointed out how audiences may not want to prepare too hard for any emotional scenes from her character since Lizzie Borden isn't really one to experience anything like that.

"It's just supposed to be fun and sort of gory and fantastic," she said. "So I think there were like two emotional scenes in the whole series for my character because she doesn't really experience emotion. So it's not the kind of thing, a kind of heavy role where you go home and you live with it or are affected by it."

The Lizzie Borden Chronicles airs on Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on Lifetime.
