Furious 7 won at the 16th Annual Golden Trailer Awards taking away the Best in Show, Best Action, and GTA and Rentrak Best Opening Weekend prizes.

The awards ceremony was held in Beverly Hills on May 6 and T.J. Miller (Silicon Valley) hosted. The film's trailer that won in the first two categories was entitled 'Family,' and was cut by the AV Squad. Other movies that led the awards were American Sniper and The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1.

Evelyn Watters, founder of the Golden Trailer Awards spoke about the importance of trailers and how essential they were to the whole process.

"The Golden Trailer Awards celebrate the best in motion picture marketing innovation and creativity. Everyone loves film trailers," she said. "They are truly an art form and this show is dedicated to rewarding the teams who work long hours through countless revisions to make each trailer resonate in just the right way. We couldn't be more proud of all of tonight's nominees and winners."

Previously, Vin Diesel, who plays Dominic Toretto in the films and is also a producer, spoke about how Furious 7 was going to pick up a whole slew of awards this year. Diesel believes the movie should actually win the Best Picture Oscar in 2016. The actor spoke about the film in his interview for Variety's cover story.

"Universal is going to have the biggest movie in history with this movie," Diesel said. "It will probably win best picture at the Oscars, unless the Oscars don't want to be relevant ever."

Furious 7 hits theaters in April 3, 2015.
