The Vampire Diaries will air its final episode of its sixth season this upcoming Thursday, May 14, and it seems as though viewers will shed a lot of tears.

Is Elena Going To Die In The Season 6 Finale Of 'The Vampire Diaries'?

The CW released a Goodbye Elena video trailer on Friday, which seems to confirm that Elena (Nina Dobrev) will not make it out of the finale alive.

In the video trailer, which is below, various iconic TVD scenes flash in a montage, including Elena in the cemetery while writing in her diary and the very first time she bumped into Stefan (Paul Wesley).

Elena does a voiceover in the video trailer, which will surely pull at peoples' emotions, especially those who have followed the series since the very first episode and took this wild journey with Elena.

"I'm not a believer," she says in the voiceover, adding, "People grow old. Then they die. But how can I deny what's right in front of me? Nothing about my life is normal."

More iconic scenes are shown, including Elena and Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Elena with Caroline (Candice Accola) and her other friends from Mystic Falls right before the latest of her lying on the floor not moving at Jo's (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) wedding as she voiceovers, "There's nothing more I could ever want other than for it to last forever, but I can't."

Does this confirm Elena will indeed die in the finale? It seems likely, but at least it seems as though flashbacks from the very beginning will be part of it to make her death all the more moving.

The Vampire Diaries Twitter even revealed Friday, "There are some moments you just can't forget."
