Taylor Swift spent the summer with the Kennedy clan, but just days after the release of her new album, "Red," the word is that Swift has split with 18-year-old Conor Kennedy.

A source close to the couple confirmed the split to Us Magazine, adding that the break-up was not contentious and the pair are still on good terms.

"They quietly parted ways a while ago," the friend said. "It was just a distance thing. No hard feelings. They're fine."

The biggest issue was that Swift, 22, is busy promoting her new record and has no time off to spend with Kennedy for the rest of the year.

"It's been over a month since they've even seen each other," the source said. "With her promotion for 'Red,' she has no time off until the end of the year."

In an interview with Katie Couric scheduled to air Friday night, Swift opens up about her love life. During the chat, Swift admitted that it's difficult for her to sustain a romantic relationship that feels normal because of the enormous spotlight on her and anyone she decides to date.

"I don't know how to have a normal relationship because I try to act normal, love from a normal place and live a normal life, but there is sort of an abnormal magnifying glass, like telescope lens, on everything that happens between me and anybody else," Swift said. "I don't really know that much about love, it turns out."

Swift is famous for writing about her relationships with other A-listers in her songs. When Couric asked if Swift ever gets an feedback from her ex-boyfriends, the singer said it has happened before.

"Well, some of them like to write really long emails," she said.

Swift released "Red," her fourth studio album, on Oct. 22, and it is available in stores now.
