On Friday, The Washington Post reported that a Seton Hall University priest said he was fired for supporting the "NOH8" campaign that supports LGBT rights.

Warren Hall's tweet has since been removed, but it read: "I've been fired from SHU for posting a pic on FC supporting LGBT "NO H8". I'm sorry it was met with this response. I'll miss my work here."

The online NOH8 campaign regularly posts photos of people with their mouths taped shut.

The official Facebook page for the campaign took to Twitter to share their disappointment in the decision.

"NO H8 Campaign photos were created as a way to illustrate the silencing of voices from the LGBT community and its allies by discrimination. This week, Seton Hall University allegedly fired a Catholic priest who ministered to their sports teams for sharing a ‪#‎NOH8‬ photo. The irony is not lost on us, and we commend Rev. Warren Hall for risking everything to make his voice heard and support known. Share his story and help us prove love will always overcome hate!"

The University has chosen to provide a statement that doesn't specifically address the termination of Hall.

"Seton Hall University does not comment on personnel matters," Laurie A. Pine, a spokeswoman for Seton Hall, said in a statement. "The Archbishop of Newark appoints the Director of Campus Ministry, who serves at his discretion."

Since his original tweet, Hall tweeted: "Grateful for all the support. Dont be angry!! Turn this into an opportunity for open/reasonable discussion on LGBT issues on a Cath Campus. "
