Is George Clooney making any plans to return to Downton Abbey?

Is There Going To Be A Seventh Season Of 'Downton Abbey?'

The critically acclaimed movie star made a brief appearance on the series in Season 5 and during his appearance on Good Morning Britain, he was asked if he would ever come back. As it turns out, Clooney is not making any plans to be in another episode of the British-American drama, but for an interesting reason.

For those who remember Clooney's "not" so well-received blockbuster film Batman & Robin, this is actually the reason why the actor would not return to Downton.

'Downton Abbey' Star Reveals What He'll Miss The Most When Series Ends

"I think since I nearly destroyed the Batman franchise, I could hurt that series really badly if I come back to that," Clooney said, posted on Mirror on Tuesday.

The movie star also admitted that one of the series' leading actors asked him not to return.

"Truth is we did a three-parter and they cut me out. Hugh [Bonneville] told me not to come back."

With Clooney out of the picture for the show's sixth and final season, the cast members have been opening up on how bittersweet it's going to feel when their final days are upon them. Brendan Coyle, who plays Mr. Bates, revealed what he's truly going to miss.

"I'm going to miss, first and foremost, the human beings," he said, posted on Big News Network. "Our crew has been consistent and they are amazing. A couple of cast members have come and gone, but the ones that come in and the ones that I work with regularly are an absolute joy."

Downton Abbey Season 6 is expected to premiere this winter on PBS.
