Attack on Titan has grown to be quite the popular animated series in the United States since it premiered last May on TOON (Cartoon Network) via Adult Swim's TOONAMI and FUNimation, but fans worldwide are a bit bummed that it won't be returning for its next season until 2016.

'Attack on Titan' Season 2 Will Premiere In 2016

The action-packed anime series that follows Eren Jaeger (Yuki Kaji) seeking revenge on the Titans since they're man-eating giants was green-lit for Season 2 at the end of last year during a press junket for the live-action movie called Attack on Titan: Crimson Bow and Arrow that follows the same story, according to Anime News Network.

This animated series and live-action movie are both based off of a magna series from Hajime Isayama.

Fans of the animated series took to Twitter to express their disappointment over the waiting period between seasons. The series actually initially began airing overseas in 2013 so many have been waiting for nearly over two years now for Season 2.

"Wish season 2 would be coming sooner!!!!" one fan of the anime series dished Monday.

Another fan showed their limited patience by tweeting, "Season 2 of Attack on Titan needs to air already."

Another Twitter user wishes it were 2016 already so Attack on Titan Season 2 would be airing.

An exact date has not been given, but some fans, including the one below, are looking forward to the live-action movie to hold them over until then. Then of course there are fans that don't care about the live-action movie at all such as the one also mentioned below.

Based on the information released by Anime News Network, the live-action movie actually has a second part called Attack on Titan: The Wings of Freedom, which is also due out this summer.
