As promised yesterday, Nintendo has released a second absolutely free weapon for their popular and colorful multiplayer game Splatoon.

Released last night to eager Wii U gamers, the Inkbrush works much like the Paint Roller weapon, in that you run around coloring the ground in front of you, but it's a bit faster. It's not a strong weapon against enemy combatants but it comes with Sprinklers and Inkstrikes to maximize inking.

Earlier in the week Nintendo added a weapon called the N-Zap '85, a shooter weapon that looks like the NES Zapper that you used to decimate the duck population back in your youth. It's a weak weapon but it has a very high fire rate and range.

Nintendo also released a brand new map (Port Mackerel) and a Ranked Battle mode for free this week, and are apparently planning to keep releasing new content for Splatoon all throughout the summer. The most exciting (that we know) about is a major update that's set for release in August that comes with a brand new mode called Rainmaker.

Could this be the title that turns around the success of Nintendo Wii U? Nintendo apparently thinks so, and this level of support seems to indicate that they know how important it is to keep gamers playing and talking about this title.
