Facebook Bug 6 Million Users Affected: Security Breach Exposes Information, Company Admits

Facebook Inc. admitted a security breach due to a technical glitch exposed the phone numbers and email addresses of 6 million users of the website to unauthorized parties during the past year, the company announced June 21. The world's largest social networking website received word of the technical problem last week and it was apparently fixed within 24 hours. However, Facebook Inc. did not admit to the breach until late Friday with a written statement on the Facebook blog.

Facebook Takes Over Internet with Redirection Bug, Sites Hijacked & Inaccessible

A Facebook bug that redirected visitors from other sites to the social media website's homepage was resolved. Visitors to sites such as CNN, The Washington Post, BuzzFeed, the Gawker network (including Gizmodo), and NBC News were routed to a Facebook error page upon loading the intended site, according to MSN. The message read "An error occurred. Please try again later."
